Grid Maker ("we," "us," "our") operates the website at https://thegridmaker.com. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

Image Processing

Your images are processed entirely in your browser. When you upload an image to our grid maker tool, the image is rendered on an HTML5 Canvas element locally on your device. We do not upload, transmit, store, or access any images you use with our tools. Your files never leave your computer or phone.

Account & Subscription Data

Our core grid tools are free and require no account. If you choose to create an account, subscribe to Grid Maker Pro, or join our newsletter, we collect and store the personal information needed to provide those services:

  • Account data: your name (optional), email address, and - if you sign up with a password - a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile (name, email, avatar) from Google.
  • Subscription & billing data: your subscription status and plan. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card details. Stripe handles card data under its own security and privacy practices.
  • Referral data: if you use our referral program, we store your referral code and a record of referrals you make or join through.
  • Email list: if you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address to send updates and resources.
  • Authentication cookies: we set a secure session cookie to keep you signed in. This is essential to account functionality.

Analytics Data

We may also collect the following non-personal, anonymized data through standard web analytics:

  • Page views and traffic sources
  • Which tools and tool features are used, and how often files are exported
  • Browser type and device category
  • Approximate geographic location (country/region level)
  • Referring sites

This data is collected in aggregate and cannot identify individual users. We use it solely to improve our tools and content.

Some of this analytics data is collected by us directly rather than by a third party. It sets no cookie and stores no IP address: visits are grouped using a one-way code derived from your browser and network details together with a value that changes every day, which means the code cannot be traced back to you and cannot be used to recognise you from one day to the next, or on any other website. We keep these records for 90 days. Your images are never part of this - they are processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded.

Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of trusted processors to run accounts, billing, and email. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Stripe - payment processing and subscription billing.
  • Google- optional "Sign in with Google" authentication.
  • Resend - transactional and newsletter email delivery.
  • Our database host - secure storage of account, subscription, and referral data.
  • Analytics - anonymized usage analytics (e.g. Google Analytics). We also collect some anonymized, cookie-less usage data ourselves, as described above.
  • Google reCAPTCHA - spam and abuse protection on our signup, sign-in, and newsletter forms. reCAPTCHA collects device and interaction signals under the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Data Retention & Your Rights

We keep account, subscription, and referral data for as long as your account is active. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at hello@thegridmaker.com. Deleting your account removes your personal data from our systems, subject to records we must retain for legal, tax, or accounting purposes.

Children's Privacy

Our tools are suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date.
